Partnering with the Palatine Project

There are many ways that you can participate ("partner") with the Palatine Project:

bullet

Submit places of origin for those not previously identified or corrections/additions to family members identified.

bullet

Make suggestions and share ideas to improve or make the site more useful or complete. If you know additional sources to include in the study, this would be welcomed.

bullet

Submit corrections of spellings, details, typos, etc. There are plenty of typos, spelling errors or inconsistencies, and other mistakes. It will be nice to make these better and better as time goes on.

bullet

Adopt a passenger list and research the origins of all those on the list and host your ongoing findings on the site.

I sure appreciate all those who have sent in corrections so far. I am adding links to email or websites for the emigrants too so it can be a great way to contact others interested in the same emigrant!

Following are some guidelines for the first and most important way of partnering with the site mentioned above, i.e. to submit information on your own ancestor's life.

Some Partners to the Palatine Project

It is hoped that in the future additional partners can be found among those working in this field such as the Palatines to America organization in Columbus, Ohio; the Memorial Foundation of the Germanna Colonies in Virginia; Annette K. Burgert; Henry Z Jones; and others. Perhaps with cooperation with the Palatines to America, this site can eventually be turned over to that organization. Following are those who have offered to help with the project so far in a significant way:

bullet

Ancestry.com has donated an electronic copy of the Pennsylvania Pioneers database compiled by Strassburger and Hinke. In exchange for this, they will be given copies of the reconstructed Pennsylvania passenger lists for use on their subscription site.

bullet

Immigrant Ancestors Project (http://immigrants.byu.edu/), sponsored by BYU paid a research assistant about ten hours a week for a year to help input the Pennsylvania passenger lists. Because of funding cuts and pressure from the outside, they are not currently offering financial support to this project.

bullet

Richard Hansen of Salt Lake City loaned copies of several books for about a year.

bullet

Charles Hall has given us a box with his notes on Palatine emigrant origins he has compiled over 20 years, along with his copies of the Palatine Emigrant periodical. This information will eventually be incorporated into the reconstructed passenger lists.

If you have several ancestors or lots of historical materials you would like to contribute, you can send them over a period of time and do not have to send them all at once. Send the ones that you have ready first and you can work on getting the others ready and send them as they are completed.

Other Information

If there are other questions or issues that need to be covered here, please let me know so I can include it in the future. To help with the Palatine Project, make your suggestions, submissions, and inquiries to kmeyerink@progenealogists.com
